Kenyan rapper Nyashinski has rubbished the rumours that he was “doing drugs” while in America.

The former member of the Tuendelee-famed rap group Kleptomaniax has just returned from the States where he relocated to some years back.

Fresh from releasing his major comeback hit titled Now You Know, Nyashinski says that some people “misunderstood and misinterpreted” a few lyrics of his new jam, to allege that he's been on hard drugs the period he's been off the music scenes.

“The lyrics in question in my new single was just a continuous thought,” said the rapper during a live interview on Kiss FM this morning.

He added: “I was just talking about how guys go to the States and waste themselves out on drugs and stuff. There's no way I could be referring it to myself.

“The entire song was about what I was feeling. Just reminding guys that I was still in the game.

“I was not sitting on my high horse ignoring what's been happening in the Kenyan rap scenes.”

However, Nyashinski says that he was happy to be back home.

He also didn't rule out a possible reunion of the Kleptomaniax.

“A Klepto reunion is definitely something we will be working on sometime in the future. They [Collo and Roba] are still my brothers,” he said.

About his decision to relocate to the Us, he said that it was just a “personal decision”.

“When you do something for so long, it's possible for you to get jaded and sometimes you just need to take a break; maybe a step back and reassess yourself.”

Nyashinski applauded Afro pop group Sauti Sol saying that “they are amazing. They are really pushing this thing [Kenyan music] so far forward. By the time we sit back and watch, and remember what these guys have done, we will be truly amazed by what they've done.”
