Jackson Ole Sapit, 52, from Kericho Diocese has been declared the Archbishop-elect of Anglican Church of Kenya.
He replaces Archbishop Eliud Wabukala, who is set to retire in June.
Sapit will also double up as the bishop of the All Saints Cathedral diocese. He will be consecrated and enthroned on July 3, 2016, when he will officially take over as Archbishop of the Province of Kenya.
Wabukala, also chair of National anti-Corruption Steering Committee, has headed the church for seven years.
Sapit emerged the winner after beating five other contestants in a selection that took place at the All Saints Cathedral church in Nairobi
The race for the 6th ACK Archbishop attracted six contestants including Bishop Moses Masamba Nthuka of Mbeere diocese, Lawrence Dena (Malindi), James Ochiel (South Nyanza), Julius Wanyoike (Thika) and Joel Waweru from Nairobi diocese.
The selection process was spearheaded by ACK Chancellor Tom Onyango, chairman of Electoral college.

Sapit Biography
Sapit was born on June 12, 1964 in Narok and was baptised in 1973; he went to Rotian Primary school in 1973 to 1980 where he sat for his CPE.
He later joined Narok High school for his O-level.
In 1985, he started working as an evangelist and community motivator at the ACK Narok.
He later attended Berea Theological College for his diploma in Theology in 1989 to 1991 when he was made Deacon.
A year later,
Sapit was ordained priest.
He became Vicar, Belgut Parish-ACK Diocese of Nakuru in 1992 where he served till 1994.
He later joined St Pauls University in 1994 where he pursued his Bachelor of Divinity course till 1997 before taking his certificate in Research and Consultancy at Daystar University in 1999.
Sapit became the Vicar/project manager at Transmara rural development programme in Kilgoris Parish in 1997 and served till 2002 when he undertook his Masters in Social Development and Sustainable livelihoods at University of Reading in UK.
In 2012, Sapit attended Global University for Life-Long Learning Califonia, USA for his Honorary in Doctor of Professional studies.
From 2003, he was the Diocesan Mission and Development Coordinator Diocese of Nakuru.
