A suspected "serial rapist" was on Thursday morning lynched by irate members of the public in Naivasha.

The middle-aged man was caught "pants down" in Moi Ndabi village, 40kms from Naivasha town sexually abusing a 68-year-old granny.

Residents said the suspect had previously abused over ten women and minors in the area.

"We know him, he mainly targets grannies and young girls", a witness Simon Kihara said.

Kihara said the "rapist" used to waylay his victims in maize plantations either in the morning or late in the evening.

Locals rushed to rescue the latest victim after she raised alarm.

“The suspect was found half-naked by the public who lynched him as he tried to escape from the crime scene,” another witness said.

Naivasha sub-county assistant commissioner John

Opondo confirmed the incident adding that the man was wanted by police in connection with similar charges in the nearby Narok County.

“This time round members of the public caught up with him and killed him before police could arrive on the scene,” he said.
