The Senate Public Accounts and Investments Committee grilled Kiambu Governor William Kabogo yesterday over financial queries raised by the Auditor General for the year ending June 2014. The governor was taken to task to explain why his officers engaged in single sourcing, contrary to procurement laws.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale said there was an attempt between the governor and the auditors to have him cleared and evade serious audit queries. As the exchange between the governor and the committee members got heated, Kabogo claimed some payment vouchers they presented to the committee last week were missing.
He said the senators misplaced them. Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi said Kabogo must account for all the funds.
