Youths on Monday evening tried to uproot a section of the railway line at Kibera in protests against the alleged leader Raila Odinga's car.
The youths attempted to destroy the railway line at around 9.30pm. One was shot and rushed to hospital,
while several others were injured in the confrontation that ensued after police were called in to disperse them.
However, the Star could not independently verify the reports of the extent of damage on the railway line.
The riots were a continuation of demos against the continued stay in office of the IEBC officials.
The ardent Cord supporters engaged police in running battles following the stand off.
Police cordoned off the Southern bypass as well as areas along the railway passing through the slum.
Shots were heard at Lindi and Kisumu Ndogo.
Cord supporters had earlier been dispersed by riot police in what officers said was because they (the rioters) had turned violent and were armed.
CORD wants IEBC commissioners to vacate office over claims they are biased and cannot preside over a fair election in 2017.
Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam said officers on patrol stopped
a group of about 200 youth tried to uproot the railway.
