Jubilee has taken up the old tactics of threats, intimidation and scaring Kenyans after sensing defeat in the 2017 poll, Cord leader Raila Odinga has said.

Raila

said the use of teargas and threats against Opposition leaders during anti-IEBC protests shows the ruling coalition has lost direction and that Cord is ready to take over power.

Watch:

“Jubilee has sensed early defeat by Cord. We are witnessing teargassing, threats and other forms of intimidation to gag us from this victory but no amount of force shall stop our mission," he said.

He spoke on Sunday

at Thuon Gweno village in Ndhiwa constituency during the burial of .

Amolo was the husband of

Homa Bay county ODM chairperson Monica Amolo, who died in February.

Raila further said Jubilee has realised it has failed in delivering promises made in 2013 and is trying to put off the Opposition's push for reforms at the IEBC.

But he said Jubilee is a 'small entity' that cannot get in the way of Cord's agenda.

“Kenyans have demonstrated they do not have faith in IEBC commissioners so we will stand in solidarity to ,” he said.

He noted that Cord will carry on with its protests against the IEBC, over allegations of rigging polls and frustrating the Okoa Kenya Initiative, until the commissioners are sent home.

Concerning the next general election, Raila said Cord will not split as speculated, adding those praying for this are in for a rude shock.

ODM national chairman John Mbadi (Suba) said:

“The IEBC chapter is closed. No amount of teargassing or threats, or even tyranny, will make chairman Issack Hassan and his team remain in office.

We are committed to total reform in the electoral body."

Mbadi told Deputy President William Ruto off for saying Jubilee will retain power in 2017 with a 70 per cent plus one margin in round one of the elections.

The sentiments are propaganda aimed at swaying Kenyans

into making early political decisions, he said, but noted

Cord will go for nothing but victory.

“Kenyans are civilised people who should not be taken for a ride. We know what this government has scored as far as delivering on its pledges is concerned,” he said.

Jacob Juma murder

Regarding the murder of businessman Jacob Juma, the Cord chief accused President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee government of allowing extrajudicial killings to take place under its watch.

Raila said Cord will not relent until a thorough investigation is carried out. He told mourners during Juma's burial in Bungoma on Saturday that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation should step in as Kenya cannot be trusted.

Raila added: “We are aware of who killed Juma and the information is in the public domain.

We want this government to conduct open investigations and tell Kenyans the truth about this outrageous killing."

He claimed that those exposing scandals in the Jubilee government are being assassinated to hinder investigations into cases of corruption.
