Nairobi Water welcomes Sparkles in the handball national league

Champions Nairobi Water women's handball team will welcome new comers Sparkles tomorrow in the ongoing 2016 Kenya Handball Federation national league at Nyayo National Stadium, handball court.

Nairobi Water were awarded a walk over in their first match of the season after opponents Mt Kenya University (MKU) Eldoret failed to show up.

This was a move Nairobi Water head coach Jack Ochieng noted was not the best way to start the season.

He said, “Yes, we have the three points but we would have loved it if we earned the three points by ompeting, but I guess , scenarios like this are part of the games. However we look forward to the next match and I hope that we begin our campaign on high.” said Ochieng who double up as the national women's handball team.

Asked about the match against the champions, Sparkles team manager and former national team player Hellen Nzisa said there is a lot to play for.

Nzisa said, they will like to make the debut with a bang and starting of the league with a match against the Nairobi Water is even a blessing as they would want to gauge their performance against a better rated outfit.

She said, “The Sparkles team is from Nairobi County and it's an outfit that has both former national team players and students from different Secondary Schools across the County. We hope our presence will be felt in the league,”

She added, “But first things first, we look forward to the match against Nairobi. We have seen them play before and they are a good side but we are ready for the match.”
