Passengers swim to safety after bus slips into Indian Ocean

A bus lost control at the Likoni ferry area and landed in the Indian Ocean on Wednesday night, forcing passengers to swim to the shore.

The accident involving Smart bus from Tanzania resulted in a traffic snarl-up on the island and mainland.

No casualties were reported.

Regional traffic boss Emmanuel Okanda said police restored smooth traffic flow.
