Bar owners in Eldoret have petitioned the Uasin Gishu County government to review laws limiting drinking hours to between 5pm and 11 pm.

The group led by Kipkorir Bett have already tabled a petition at the county assembly seeking an extension of the time prescribed under the famous Mututho law.

They said that the stipulated time for revelers to patronage the joints was short and are denying people their right to drink any time.

Bett also noted that the hours are making bar owners record losses.

Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Hosea Lamai says the demands by the owners will be discussed.
