Mvurya is doing a great job, say three Kwale MCAs

Kwale MCAs and politicians have defended Governor Salim Mvurya against claims his administration has failed residents. The assembly members accused Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori and Muslim cleric Sheikh Juma Ngao of misleading voters on Mvurya’s performance.

MCAs Ahmed Musa, Anthony Lukuni, Swalehe Simba and Jeruman Mackraa urged Mvurya to ignore his critics. Addressing journalists yesterday at the Leopard Beach Resort in Diani, Simba said residents will re-elect the governor because of his development record.

“Mvurya should not listen to those empty vessels who have no assurance of being re-elected,” he said. They said Mvurya enjoys the support of voters and the county assembly. “Ngao and Dori are all Mombasa residents and so they should in fact keep off Kwale politics. Dori has done nothing for Msambweni people,” Lukuni said. Makraa said Mvurya will serve Kwale for 10 years.

Kwale Finance executive Bakari Sebe dismissed Dori and Ngao’s claims that Msambweni residents have been sidelined in jobs. “Msambweni subcounty is the biggest beneficiary of county jobs. It has the deputy governor, Finance executive and other officials,” he said.

Dori has said he will not support Mvurya for campaigning against him and sidelining his constituents in county jobs. Woman representative Zainab Chidzuga and MPs Hassan Mwanyoha and Khatib Mwashetani have differed with the governor. Only Kinango MP Gonzi Rai and a handful of MCAs are by his side.
