State asks guests flying to Lucy Kibaki's funeral to land planes by 9am

The government has asked mourners flying to the funeral of the late former First Lady Lucy Kibaki to park their aircrafts by 9am.

Government spokesperson Erick Kiraithe on Thursday warned pilots against flying above the venue of the Mama Lucy's final rites.

He said there will be an ample parking space at Iriani Tea factory for the aircrafts.

Kiraithe said that Lucy's funeral is not a private function further urging those wishing to pay their last respects to attend.

He said an interdenominational funeral service will be held at the Othaya approved School on Saturday.

"The service will begin at 10am . Those planning to attend the funeral are to be seated by 9am," Kiraithe said.

Kiraithe said that the official convoy carrying Mama Lucy Kibakis body will leave the Lee Funeral home at 8am.

He said the procession will pass through Muthaiga road, then join Thika Highway on its way to Nyeri.

Kiraithe encouraged members of the public to sign condolence books at Harambee house, Parliament , KICC, Consolata Shrine in Westlands.

More books will be stationed at All missions abroad, former President Mwai Kibakis official office in Nyali, the Holy Family Basilica and all the 47 county headquarters.

Lucy, who was the

wife of former president Mwai Kibaki,

died aged 82 at

Bupa Cromwell Hospital on April 26.
