Papa Wemba, Lucy Kibaki top Kenya's trending April Google searches

Kenya's former First Lady Lucy Kibaki and musician Papa Wemba topped Kenya's trending searches in April.

The musician, hailed by many as the king of Congolese Rhumba, died after collapsing on stage in Ivory Coast on April 24 at age 66.

Hundreds of thousands of mourning fans to bid a final farewell to Papa Wemba, who was born Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba.

Second after him was Mama Lucy,

died while undergoing treatment at Bupa Cromwell hospital in London, United Kingdom. She will be buried on Saturday.

The fourth most trending search was Chase Bank, which was put under receivership. Rumors of its collapse went viral on social media.

The bank was the third small-sized lender to go into statutory management in nine months, after Dubai and Imperial banks.

'Panama Papers' was number seven. It concerned

11.5 million leaked documents that detail financial information for more than 214,000 offshore companies associated with Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca.

Rachel Roy came eighth. People searched online for more details on the American fashion designer after Beyonce allegedly mentioned her as “Becky with the good hair” in her new album.

Influenza, the viral disease commonly known as flu, that killed 39 infants in Nakuru county came ninth, and was followed by Mall of Africa, located in Midrand, South Africa.

RMB Holdings announced it will acquire a stake in Mall of Africa developer, Atterbury camer.

In the 'what is' category, 'what is the time in San Francisco, Tennessee, California' was the most trending search followed by 'what is receivership'.

'What is Coachella' was the third most trending question. Kenyans sough to know more about the annual music and arts festival held in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in Colorado Desert.

Other questions that drew attention were: 'hat is the exchange rate of the dollar in Kenya', 'hat is influenza;', 'what is Panama Papers', 'what is African philosophy', 'hat is peasant farming', 'what is disability' and 'what is cold war'.

In the ‘how to’ category, the most trending search was 'how to be a better man', followed by 'how to make minion quotes'.

Kenyans also searched 'how to apply for USA scholarship', 'how to prepare minced meat', 'how to create email address', 'how to develop an App'.

Others were 'how to soften free range chicken', 'how to make money with Google AdSense', 'how to make marble cake' and 'how to pay electricity bill online'.
