Supkem has warned members of the public against resorting to mob justice while punishing suspected offenders.

The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims

advised that the law be allowed to take its course in such circumstances.

Mohamed Washalla, an official at the body, said mob justice denies people a fair hearing.

He said some incidences have resulted in the wrong person being punished.

Washalla said the judiciary exists to provide a fair trial for everybody and those found guilty taken to prison for correction.

The clergyman said nobody has a right to kill and that mob justice cannot correct rogue members of the society.

But he challenged the law enforcers and the judiciary to do thorough investigations so that culprits face the law and nobody is wrongfully accused.

Washalla said given the opportunity, everybody can change.

Many kenyans have always ended up lynching people who commit petty crimes especially when police delays to rescue them from a mob.
