Fourteen youths, including five students, were arrested during a police raid in Bungoma on suspicion of engaging in criminal activities.

Police said they found two machines for washing cars, sachets of illicit alcohol from Uganda, two woofers, a DVD player and mobile phones.

They carried out the raid in Bondeni area on Wednesday night following a tip-off from members of the public.

"The youths were holed up in a pool joint. We have taken them in for questioning," said Bungoma South police boss Tom Okoth.

Okoth

asked parents to monitor their children's movements to ensure they stay in school or engage in meaningful activities.

He urged members of the public to continue offering police officers information that can lead to the arrest of criminals.
