The Kenya Electricity Generating Company has warned that Embu, Kitui, Garissa and Tana River counties could be flooded if the heavy rains persist.

KenGen operations manager in charge of Eastern Francis Kawa said those living along Tana River may have to relocate to higher ground because the Seven Forks Dams could overflow.

He said the dams are unable to hold water from the Tana and Aberdare catchment areas because of the heavy rains.

"This is to notify the communities living downstream of Kiambere, especially the low-lying areas of Garissa and Garsen, to take precaution, as it is not possible to ascertain the situation of inflows of rivers downstream," Kawa said.
