Jarajila MCA Mahat Osman wants a committee formed to investigate the possible loss of Sh3.4 billion between 2013 and 2015 through alleged irregular payments by the Garissa government. He said rogue county officials collaborate with contractors to pay for non-existent or incomplete projects.

The motion prepared by the MCA reads: “The country Treasury has been paying huge amounts of public funds to non-existent projects that were never budgeted for.” Osman said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission should investigate the alleged losses. “We will not sit back and watch a few greedy government officials rob public coffers. We want them arrested,” he said.

Governor Nathif Jama has said all payments are above board.
