Death toll at collapsed Huruma building rises to seven

The number of people who have died in Huruma storey building that collapsed Friday night has risen to seven.

County Secretary Robert Ayisi said on Saturday that they have rescued 121 people in the six-storey block.

Live TV footage showed rescuers bringing out survivors through packed crowds of emergency crews and onlookers in the Huruma residential area.

The National Youth Service, Red Cross and police continued with the evacuation of those trapped in the rubble.

The pictures showed a large crowd surrounding the collapsed building as police and rescue workers tried to remove debris.

The injured were rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital.

The Kenya Red Cross set up tracing and Counseling desks at the CDF Hall Huruma and urged the public to

report

any missing persons.

Nairobi county governor Evans Kidero sent condolences to the families that lost their loved ones in the tragedy.
