Two legislators from Kajiado county have criticised Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery for allegedly getting involved in county politics “yet he is supposed to be a neutral technocrat”.

Woman representative Mary Seneta and Oloosirkon-Sholinke MCA Daniel Kanchori on Thursday said Nkaissery is working with the opposition.

They spoke during the Irkileku rite of passage for Maasai morans at Empatipat village.

Seneta said Nkaissery is “fully immersed in Kajiado politics and is undermining the spirit of Jubilee unity in the region by putting a wedge between elected leaders”.

“We are told he was even at State House on Tuesday to discuss the compensation of residents whose farms the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company way leave will pass through,” she said.

Seneta said MPs Peris Tobiko (Kajiado East), Moses Sakuda (Kajiado) and Senator Peter Mositet were also present. “Why are only three elected leaders being involved yet other MPs, MCAs and community leaders have been affected by Ketraco’s power lines? Why did they leave us out, yet we are all stakeholders?” she said.

Kanchori said: “It is a shame we get to learn of deals sealed in State House through the media.”
