Kenya representatives in the ongoing 2016 women’s Africa Club championship in Tunisia, Pipeline and Prisons face hosts Tunisia sides today in quarter finals marches.

Kenya Pipeline will lock horns with Sfaxien while Kenya Prisons battle Carthage in other quarter. Prisons recovered from Monday’s defeat at the hands of Elshams of Egypt to overpower Ndelle of Gabon 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-12) on Tuesday evening—finishing second in Pool ‘D’ behind El shams.

Pipeline on their part maintained their unbeaten run in the competition after seeing off FAP of Cameroon in a straight sets 3-0 (25-15,25-17,25-4) on Tuesday night to top Group C ahead of second-placed Sonatrach of Algeria. In an interview, Pipeline assistant captain Triza Atuka predicted a tough match but remained hopeful of good results. Atuka said they will have to be at their best as far as their reception and blocking is concerned to advance. She said, “ They have three players who play for the national team and one professional player, who plays in Italy and so we must be cautious when we play them.”

She added, “A lot is at stake and we will have to go the extra mile. But we remain optimistic of staging a good fight and hopefully the results will favour us.”

Kenya Prisons’ libero Elizabeth Wanyama said they have never played Carthage before and it will be an interesting encounter to look forward to.

“Really, we can only judge them from the performance of the national team and a bulk of their players play for the national side and they are no pushovers.

However, we are all geared up and we just have to wait and see what happens but hopefully we will win and qualify for the semis,” said Wanyama. Other quarter finals pit defending champions Al Ahly from Egypt against 2014 champions GSP Petroliers of Algeria While El Shams face another East African outfit, Rwanda Revenue Authority.
