Flame Tree after tax profit up by 16.3 per cent

Flame Tree Group has posted a 16.3 per cent increase in net profit for the year 2015.

The company which manufactures beauty and food products recorded a profit after tax of Sh178.8 compared to Sh153 million in 2014.

The group’s revenues went up 29 per cent to Sh2.28 billion compared to net sales of Sh1.76 billion previously.

The company has marked its first year since listing at the Nairobi Securities Exchange in 2014.

Last year also saw the company make huge capital investments in expanding its manufacturing capability and product lines.

Flame Tree Group’s FY 2015 acquisitions were in the cosmetics and snacks sub-sectors.

It acuired Chirag Kenya’s food and snacks brands and three hair care brands from Beauty Plus Trading East Africa, as well as make-up firm Suzie Beauty.

Group CEO Heril Bangera said the company will this year focus on investing in its brands for accelerated growth in the face of growing competition.

The company has not declared any dividends.
