Eight people were injured when a car veered off the road and hit them near The Mall in Westlands, Nairobi on Thursday.
Three were critically injured while five suffered minor injuries. They were taken to
Kenyatta National Hospital.
The driver of the car is said to have lost control as a result of being drunk.
Witnesses say
the young men in the company of girls may have been coming from a club at around 6am.
A mob tried to attack the driver but was rescued by police officers at Westlands roundabout.
Parklands
OCPD Vitalis Otieno said he tried to escape but was arrested and taken to the area police station.
"He will undergo an alcoblow test to ascertain the amount of alcohol in his blood before he is charged," Otieno said.
The wreckage was also towed to the police station.
