Seven people died on Thursday night in a road accident involving a matatu and a lorry at Shaviringa
along the
Chavakali-Kapsabet road.

Gilbert Ekirapa said the matatu which was coming from Kapsabet collided with the lorry as it tried to overtake a group of "dancers" on the road.
"Six passengers died on the spot while the seventh passed on while
receiving
treatment at the Kaimosi hospital", Ekirapa said.
He said, "Kuna watu walikuwa wanacheza dance kwa barabara, sasa matatu ikiovertake ikapatana na lorry" (There were some dancers on the road, so when the driver of the Matatu tried to sway, he was hit head-on by the oncoming lorry).
The OCPD said those who sustained serious injuries are receiving treatment at various hospitals in the area.
