Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has defended county Lands executive Amina Rashid, following motion passed by MCAs to sack her.

The motion was presented by majority leader Abdu Kassim and adopted by the county assembly last Thursday. It asks Timmy to fire Rashid on grounds of graft and incompetence.

Speaking in Lamu town on Sunday, Timamy said he saw no logic in the claims presented as reason for sacking the executive.

He said Rashid will not leave her office until the county assembly is clear on why it wants her fired.

Timamy said Rashid is hardworking and diligent, saying they have worked selflessly to ensure land rights of the Lamu people are protected. He said the motion mover harbours personal ill intentions against Rashid.

“This whole thing is politically motivated. This is nothing more than people just wanting to frustrate my administration. The executive isn’t going anywhere because she isn’t guilty of whatever they are accusing her of,” he said.
