Last Friday the county government made a Sh2.5 million requisition from Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies.

Kericho district hospital medical superintendent David Ekwam made the requisition on behalf of Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony.

The drugs consignment is set to last Kericho district hospital three months, before another acquisition is made.

The 811-carton consignment includes antibiotics, anti-diabetes, anti-asthmatics, injection fluids and theatre and hypertension drugs.

Last week, some residents told Health PS Nicholas Muraguri that there are no drugs in local health facilities.

But the governor asked them to join him in Kapkatet Hospital pharmacy for confirmation of sufficient drugs. They found the pharmacy full of medicine.

Muraguri was on a tour of Kericho.

He praised the high standards of local health facilities. “I am impressed by the high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the health facilities. The facility is second after Kenyatta National Hospital as far as Intensive Care Unit services are concerned,” Muraguri said.
