Petrol prices slashed by Sh4.87, kerosene and diesel to cost more

The price of super petrol has dropped

by Sh4.87 per litre while that of

diesel and kerosene has slightly gone up.

Diesel went up by Sh0.53 per litre and kerosene Sh1.81 per litre

respectively in the latest ERC

review.

In Nairobi, motorists will now pay Sh80.71 for a litre of super petrol, Sh66.23 for diesel and Sh43.91 for kerosene.

Mombasa will buy the cheapest super petrol at Sh77.43, diesel Sh62.98 and kerosene Sh41.27. Mandera residents will pay the highest price at Sh94.52 for petrol, Sh80.04(diesel) and Sh57.77 for kerosene.

The drop was

attributed

to the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products.

The three products will be sold at Sh82.71, Sh68.40 and Sh45.86 respectively in Kisumu and Sh82.65, Sh68.34 and Sh45.87 in Eldoret.

In Nakuru, a litre of super petrol will cost Sh81.50, diesel Sh67.19 and kerosene Sh44.84

In the review, the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreased 11.90

per cent

from US$ 473.84(Sh47,950) per ton in February 2016 to US$ 417.46 (Sh42,249) per ton in March 2016.

However, the average landed cost of imported Diesel during the period increased by 3.74 per cent from US$ 311.11(Sh31,483) per ton to US$ 322.76 (Sh32,662)per ton.

The average landed cost of imported Kerosene increased by 7.47 per cent from US$ 352.92 (Sh35,714) per ton to US$ 379.28 (Sh38,381) per ton.

On February 14, fuel

prices fell by between Sh2.14 and Sh8.82 in the monthly review by the Energy Regulatory Commission

The ERC

of petrol,

diesel

and kerosene by an average of Sh2.14, Sh8.82 and Sh6.51 per litre, respectively.
