The ODM and Wiper parties yesterday denied knowledge of any agreement with Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya.

Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka’s key allies denied any agreement with Ford Kenya just before the 2013 polls after the senator’s allies said there was one in place.

Addressing journalists at Capitol Hill, Nairobi, Cord coordinating committee members James Orengo and Johnstone Muthama said they only recognise an MoU and charter between ODM and Wiper.

“Only four people should talk about the MoU in Cord and they are Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o, Kitui’s David Musila and Orengo,” Muthama said.

The documents were deposited with the registrar of political parties as required by the law, he said.

The Machakos senator also took issue with the media for “misquoting some leaders in the coalition to champion the interests and agenda of Jubilee-sown discord in Cord”.

“As a coalition, we have laid down procedures for addressing emerging issues. We shall stick to them until we achieve our goals in 2017 by winning the elections,” he said.

Orengo said most politicians in the coalition who are fuelling the conflict want to champion individual interests and not the pillars on which Cord is anchored – peace, love and unity.

“If the media can analyse those statements, you will realise that they are self-serving,” he said.

The Siaya senator branded those making noise as rebels “who have since stopped participating in the affairs of the coalition”.

“Our structures are very clear that it is the coalition that will determine who carries the flag in the coming general election,” he said.

Muthama said Cord will continue pushing the government to be accountable according to its role as the opposition.
