Opposition leader Raila Odinga has traveled to France to attend a special meeting of the Emerging Markets Forum in Paris.

Raila left on Sunday morning for the meeting that will take place on Monday and Tuesday.

The forum will be hosted by the Governor of Banque de France and attended by four EMF co-Chairs, his spokesman Dennis Onyango said in a statement.

The co-chairs are President Alassane Ouattara (Cote d'Ivoire), former German President Horst Koehler, Michel Camdessus and Hiroshi Watanabe.

The forum will focus on 'Striving for a Just, Prosperous and Harmonious Global Community'.

From France, Raila will travel to the UK to participate in the Al Jazeera TV Head-to-Head programme at the Oxford Union.

This is a one-on-one interview in a robust exchange with the host, alongside a panel of other guests.

"They will focus on upcoming elections, the 2007 post-election violence and issues of justice, records in office and the problem of corruption, among other issues," Onyango said.

The spokesman said Raila will return to the country at the end of the week.
