The NBK board has named five officials
to
take over management roles, following orders earlier on Friday for the arrest of several others.
Those appointed in acting capacity include
Wilfred Musau (CEO)
Cromwell Kedemi (retail and premium banking director) and
Francis Ogwao (integrated distribution channels director).
Other are
Shadrack Kiamuko (ICT director),
Reuben Koech (corporate institutions business banking director) and
Anne Njoroge (Chief Credit Officer).
The bank's officials who were to be included Chris Kisire (chief finance officer) and Munir Ahmed (managing director).
Others were Boniface Biko (executive director), George Jaba (chief credit officer), Mohammed Abdalla (ICT director) and Wycliffe Kivunira (acting CFO).
Board chairman Mohammed Hassan
said the six newly appointed senior executives have the requisite capabilities to undertake the bank’s transformation agenda.
“The board continues to take proactive measures to strengthen and enforce of our corporate governance tenets and the continuous enhancement of our risk management capabilities," he said.
Hassan assured customers that the board and appointed management team will continue demonstrating transparency in efforts to grow the bank.
Musau, who was the bank’s director for retail and premium banking,
joined its team six months ago from NIC Bank.
He was NIC's head of business banking in-charge of branch business and had also served as the head of SME banking at KCB.
Musau, who is a
banking and finance graduate of Kenyatta University,
brings on board more than 18 years of consumer and commercial banking experience, coupled with local and international training.
IG Joseph Boinnet also ordered the immediate arrest of Chase Bank ex-bosses
Zuffrullah Khan (chairman)
and Duncan Kabui (ex-CEO). The two
on Wednesday amid growing public concerns over the health of the bank.
