Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has told off President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto over presidency.

Speaking in Majengo yesterday, the governor said the Jubilee government cannot decide who will be their President for the next two decades.

“The other day I heard them say in Nakuru that other leaders will have to wait until 2032 to take over the leadership. “This country cannot be led by two communities only,” Joho said.

Joho and Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir walked through the streets of Majengo saying they do not need bodyguards.

Majengo has been in the news in the recent past for extremism and radicalisation of youth.

The two commissioned two new Cabro roads, the Red Star access road and the Bin-Agil avenue, all built by the Mvita CDF.

Nassir said they will not allow the Jubilee government to use its machinery to steal votes in the Coast "just like they tried to do in Malindi".

He said he will support Joho intended bid for presidency in 2022.

“We have a President for 2022 here with us today,” he said amid cheers from hundreds of supporters.

“Jubilee might as well try and splash out the Eurobond, National Youth Service and the Youth Fund money to try and steal their way to power"

Nassir said they want the billions to trickle down to the wananchi, "not the few hundreds and thousands you want to bribe the youth with".

Joho said they have a four-day development tour of Mombasa county that began yesterday and ends on Wednesday.

During the tour, he will launch road projects, receive medical equipment from donors, launch construction of hospitals, a bridge and open a maternity in Jomvu, Kisauni, Nyali, Changamwe and Likoni constituencies.

This is seen as two-fold approach to woo support from Mombasa residents for his 2022 presidential bid as he fixes his eyes on a second term as Mombasa governor next year.

“I will be the first President of Kenya from the Coast in 2022,” Joho said.

He said the Jubilee government has carried out any development project in Mombasa.

“We must respect each other as the two levels of government,” he said.
