A family in Webuye East, Bungoma, is celebrating the rarity of a cow giving birth to three healthy calves.

Cow owner Martin Tulienge told journalists he was "very much happy" as the animal's first calf died. The cow had the three calves on Friday night.

Tulienge, who is unemployed and does casual jobs in Webuye town, said on Sunday that the cow was a blessing to him.

He said he will ensure the calves are well taken care of and use money obtained from the sale of milk to pay his four children's school fees.

Tuelienge also keeps three goats and three sheep.

"I want to increase the number of animals. This is a good sign that I have the ability to rear cows and stop living in poverty," he said.

Neighbours thronged his home to have a look at the cow, some saying this was a puzzle they were yet to unravel.

"I have never seen a cow deliver three calves. This is more than strange," one said.
