Power black out in Coast, Kenya power working on it

Coast residents are experiencing power blackout as a result of technical fault at Kiambere, Kenya Power has said.

The company said the hitch has affected a high voltage transmission lines linking Nairobi and coast.

In a statement on Saturday, Kenya power said they have sent their engineers to repair the fault in order to restore the power which was affected on Friday evening.

The affected areas include; Mombasa, Malindi, Lamu, Kwale and their environs.

Kenya is struggling with an ageing energy infrastructure.

The government plans to boost installed capacity to about 6,700 MW by 2017 from about 2,500 MW.
