A fire whose cause is unknown razed hall six at JKUAT's Juja campus on Wednesday.
Students engaged police in running battles in an afternoon demonstration over late response.
They hurled stones at officers as the fire consumed the men's hostel.
Fire fighters were seen trying to extinguish the fire.
