The hearing of a corruption case against

former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has been adjourned for three months.

The case concerns claims Ngilu obstructed investigations into the Karen land case by directing officials in her ministry to neither release documents to EACC officers nor record statements.

Ngilu had asked for a six-month adjournment on Monday to deal with a case at the Court of Appeal.

She appealed against the ruling of a three-judge bench at the

High Court

that

declined to stop her trial at the magistrates court.

Justices George Odunga, Mumbi Ngugi and Joseph Onguto last Wednesday declined her bid to stop her prosecution.

Ngilu, former Transport CS Michael Kamau and others had complained of illegal prosecution. They said the EACC

was improperly constituted when it recommended charges against them in a file to DPP Keriako Tobiko.

Ngilu sought the High Court's indulgence in quashing the three judge's ruling on the basis that the trial court could easily deal with raised concerns.

The case will be mentioned on June 15.
