Nairobi City County governor, Dr Evans Kidero has condemned underage drinking in Nairobi County.
Speaking at the Starehe SDA Church on Saturday, the governor said that the biggest problem we are currently facing is the problem of youth engaging in underage drinking and underage sex.
"As a father and a leader I will not allow events like Project X to happen under watch. We need to instil discipline in our youth. Due process of the law will be followed to ensure the organiser is prosecuted," Kidero said.
Kidero said this a day after the owner of a house in Nairobi's Lang'ata area
where
were arrested on Thursday has been charged with giving alcohol to children.
South Sudan national
Mary Nyanyikii, who owns the house in Phenom estate, was also charged with being in Kenya illegally.
She denied the charges before
senior resident magistrate Shadrack Mwinzi
at Kibera law courts on Friday.
The governor also issued notice to land grabbing cartels in the city.
"There are 3 cartels in Nairobi City with the biggest of them being land grabbing cartels. Anyone caught grabbing county land will be arrested and prosecuted."
Kidero also urged the congregation to register as voters before the one month-long process closes on March 15.
"Let's not be like the proverbial Peter. But register as voters. The only way you can change the government is by choosing people who can make a difference." Kidero stated.
