BURETI MP Leonard Sang has accused KANU of conducting violent campaigns in Kericho county after he was attacked by KANU supporters in Litein last Friday.

Sang is nursing injuries and continues to receive treatment in Nairobi hospital.

Addressing a press conference in Parliament on Wednesday, the lawmaker said he wasn't aware KANU had staged its political rally in Litein on the same day.

"I did not know that KANU were in Litein, a group of youth chanting KANU confronted me that is why I am having this neck brace, they attacked me and I was injured," He said.

Sang however did not report the matter to any police station saying he will resolve the issue locally. The MP did not have his bodyguard with him on that day.

"If I report them it will be very bad, I know them because we come from the same place," I will go home this weekend to meet them," He added.

The MP also called on rebel URP MPs to put aside their political differences.

"The by election is over and now we should come together as leaders to unite our people," Sang said.
