CCTV security cameras in Nyangwa Boys High School enabled it post excellent KCSE exam results.

“The cameras have become a blessing to us,” principal Musyoka Moshe said.

The administration of the school in Mbeere South subcounty installed cameras in classrooms, the compound and teachers quarters to fight insecurity a year ago.

Moshe said from his office he is able to monitor the compound, including how the teachers and students report to class.

The school scored a mean of 9.5.

The results were two As, 17 A-, 54 B+, 57B, 12 B- and one C.

It was the fourth in the county.

Speaking at the school on Thursday after the results were released, Moshe said the cameras contributed to their improved performance. The school’s last year mean score was 9.2.

Moshe said other factors like hard work, discipline, coverage of curriculum on time and prayers contributed to the good showing.

“Any time I see anything wrong I summon the teacher or the students and correct them through reprimand or punishment,” he said.

Moshe said teachers have been able to cover the syllabus on time and students report to class as required.
