A task force formed to investigate a dispute between traditional taxi drivers and Uber online taxis yesterday presented its findings to Interior PS Karanja Kibicho at Harambee House.

The task force, chaired by director general of the Competition Authority Wang'ombe Kariuki, was formed on February 8 during a meeting with stakeholders in the taxi business.

The meeting brought together the two conflicting sides.

Kariuki said his team met operators from both sides and consulted widely before compiling the 60-page report.

The inter-agency task force had representatives from the National Transport and Safety Authority, Kenya Revenue Authority, Nairobi government, Competition Authority and the Kenya Investment Authority.

In a statement, Kibicho said there is no room in Kenya for business rivals to take the law into their own hands.

"This kind of hooliganism is unacceptable in a civilised society and police are under strict instructions to deal with such criminals very sternly."
