Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has accused Nyamira MCAs of not monitoring the county government.

He said the MCAs are asleep on the job and not properly putting the county government in check.

“MCAs have failed to do their oversight role. That is why the county is riddled with corruption and inefficiency,” Bosire said.

He was speaking at Nyamakairo Primary School in the constituency on Monday, accompanied by the county assembly’s Committee on Implementation chairman Peter Maroro.

Bosire asked the MCAs to wake up from their “slumber”.

“You (Maroro) and your colleagues will be judged harshly by voters in 2017. Voters will ask you for the balance sheet,” he said.

However, Maroro denied the claims.

He said the Public Accounts and Implementation committees launched fresh investigations on four executives and two chief officers implicated in graft.

The executives were suspended, but later reinstated by Governor John Nyagarama after a report recommending their dismissal was trashed by the assembly.

“We are compiling the report and it will be tabled in the assembly in two weeks. The findings are shocking,” Maroro said.
