Deputy President William Ruto has honoured his promise to buy a car for Webuye Jua Kali Band singer Daudi Zakari.

The DP had promised to buy Zakari the vehicle last year when he visited Webuye West during a funds drive at Matulo Friends Girls Secondary School.

Ruto had been impressed by Zakari’s performance. The 35-year-old singer is famous for the hit songs My Dear and Tindikiti.

Zakari, who lives with disability, received the keys of the new Toyota vehicle from Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama.

Speaking on Saturday while receiving the car at Webuye Masinde Muliro Gardens, Zakari said he never expected to drive a car one day.

He said he has always earned meagre fees from the music business after performing at funerals, schools and different functions.

“I am thankful to the Deputy President for what he has done for me. May the Lord bless him and give him heart to help more disabled people who have talent,” he said.

Zakari said he will use the vehicle to go to concerts and shows to perform and expand his music career.

MP Wanyama said he was given the vehicle by the DP in Nairobi to bring to Zakari. He urged Webuye residents to work closely with the government for more goodies and developments.

“If I was not close to the government, you could not be seeing such development in our area.

Let’s cooperate and see more of this happening,” Wanyama said.

He also called upon residents to register as voters in large numbers.

Wanyama said in 2017 Webuye West will support Jubilee.
