ODM deputy leader Hassan Joho and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi on Thursday met members of the Gema community in Malindi to campaign for Willy Mtengo.

The two governors preached equality and asked Kenyans to break the chains of tribalism.

They said the Gema community in Malindi will be directly affected by the politics and development in Malindi and not in other counties in Central and Eastern.

The community, led by chair Aisha Muthoni, said they will not be swayed into choosing a leader imposed on them by outsiders.

She said they are residents of Malindi and will not allow people from other areas to dictate who to vote for.

“Those from Nairobi do not know our problems here. We live here and will do our politics here. We do not want to be used,” Muthoni said.

Joho and Kingi said all communities in Malindi support Mtengo.
