After a long period of pull and push, Tanzanian celebrity couple Lady Jay Dee and Gardner Habash have officially been divorced.
The Bongo diva, whose real name is Judith Wambura Mbibo, got her divorce from Gardner at Manzese court in Sinza, Dar es Salaam. The two walked away with their official divorce papers last week, free to move on with their lives.
The couple separated two years ago after almost 12 years of a tumultuous marriage. The singer famed for hits like Yahaya and Distance accused her ex-husband of being a "serial cheater".
In a past interview with Word Is, Jay dee revealed, "My marriage didn't
work out. I was not happy at all and that's why I decided not to carry
on. My husband was cheating on me and had become a drunkard, while I was
working so hard and giving the relationship all that I was able to. I
am just happy and thank God that I don't have children with him."
Gardner, who is a veteran radio presenter in Tanzania, has kept mum about the allegations.
