Bonny Khalwale, who garnered three out of 11 votes in an election, has lost his seat as chairman of the Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee.
The Kakamega Senator was replaced by Nyamira's Kennedy Mong'are who got six votes.
Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, who was deputy chairman, was replaced by West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo.
Khalwale said at Parliament buildings after the vote on Wednesday that he is ready to work with and support new officials.
"This should not invoke feelings of bitterness among former and new officials. I will support the new chairman and help whenever possible," he said.
The sessional committee, that
oversees how the 47 counties use allocated
funds and audit their investments, elects new leaders when Parliament resumes.
It is mandated with examining
reports by the Auditor General on the annual account of county governments and any other reports from the concerning
county funds and investments.
