CALL FOR UNITY: President Uhuru Kenyatta addresses the nation on devolution after a summit with governors in Sagana State Lodge, Nyeri county, on February 11.

Laikipia MCAs on Thursday skipped the afternoon session to listen to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s address to the nation at the Sagana State Lodge.

Out of 22 members, only six were present.

They are temporary speaker Joseph Leshuel (Mukogodo East), Michael Kinyua (Thingithu) and nominated members Daisy Maitho, John Nderitu, Elizabeth Paraiton and Jane Meshami.

Since there was no quorum, Leshuel adjourned the House until next Tuesday.

Among the business set to be discussed during the session, the Star learnt, was the Agricultural Bill.

Speaking to the Star after the adjournment, Kinyua said: “I am not aware that members of the Laikipia county assembly were to meet the President at Sagana State Lodge. In any case, he will be here in Laikipia on Saturday.”
