ODM leaders in Bondo will provide the disabled and elderly with transport to voter registration centres as part of a "massive" mobilisation exercise.

Vice secretary Onyango Ralwala said the branch will fully facilitate the process of allowing residents to elect choice leaders in the 2017 general election.

Ralwala told the press in his officer on Friday that party leaders in the region have formed a team to mobilise constituents to participate in the exercise.

He said chairpersons in charge of polling stations will have to record the names of those yet to register and make sure they do so before March 15.

This will be the last day of a mass voter registration exercise the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission said will begin on February 15.

Ralwala asked all those eligible to vote in the next election to turn up for the exercise.

South Sakwa MCA aspirant Gondi Olima said others in his position support the party's mobilisation plan.

Gondi asked fishermen and boda boda operators to prepare themselves for the exercise to avoid last minute rushes.

He noted that voter registration will enable residents elect leaders capable of championing their rights.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga's ODM is banking on its new party structure that extends right to the polling station to leverage on the mass voter registration

Raila has of IDs and voter registration, complete with a call centre to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the exercise.

These are among the strategies Raila is using to ensure maximum registration in his strongholds.
