Interpol will train at least 10 criminal intelligence analysts to enhance war against poaching and illegal wildlife trade.

Interpol's environment security officer Henri Fournel said the capacity for criminal intelligence is under-developed.

“We will assist field officers during investigations through an intelligence-led and guided programme,” he said.

Fournel said under the project called Wisdom, the capacity of officers will be built to help get intelligence for decision making.

He said the two-year project set to be rolled out in East Africa will encourage communication, cooperation and collaboration on intelligence exchange, cross-border investigations and training.

Fournel made the remarks at Laico Hotel during a meeting on fighting wildlife crime.
