SOMEONE USED MY CARD: Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore leaves the Milimani law courts yesterday.

Safaricom chief executive Bob Collymore yesterday testified against a woman charged with forging a Visa credit card bearing his code number.

Esther Gichuru alias Alice Ciuri was charged in 2011 with intent to defraud and with making a false Visa credit card bearing numbers similar to Collymore's.

She allegedly presented it as a valid Visa card issued by the Barclays Bank of Kenya.

Yesterday, Collymore told the Milimani law courts he owns a Barclays Bank credit card.

The card bears the number 4263 9999 0105 8195 and was issued on September 2010, he said.

Collymore told Milimani resident magistrate Edda Agade that on April 30, 2011, he was called by Barclaycard.

He said he was asked if he had used the card for recent purchases at Safaricom shops and attempted to use it at a butchery in Hurlingham.

"I immediately asked my personal assistant Tabie Kioko to double-check that I had not used the card for that purpose," Collymore said.

"She confirmed that I had not."

Collymore said he used to use the card for international expenses like hotels, local entertainment and meals.

He last used it on April 20, 2011, at the Sankara Hotel in Westlands, he said.

"Later on May 7, 2011, I was informed by my PA that a suspect had been arrested," he said.

"I was requested to record a statement."

The hearing continues on March 9.
