The Busia Budget and Appropriation Committee on Wednesday tabled Sh7.3 billion supplementary revenue estimates for the 2015-16 financial year.

It comprised Sh5.4 billion as equitable share and Sh566.6 million as recovery of money erroneously transferred to Bungoma county in 2013-14.

The estimates also included Sh226 million as total conditional grants, Sh497.5 million as balances brought forward from the 2014-15 financial year.

Interim chairperson Rose Idewa said Sh566.6 million was not devoted under the Busia County Appropriation Act, 2015.

She said the money is expected to be recovered in 11 months, and the first instalment was deducted in December last year.

Idewa said the committee saved Sh493 million by reducing supplementary expenditure of some departments and the assembly.

The team recommends Sh6 million to buy an official car for the office of the Deputy Governor.

It proposes a Sh20 million to increase bursary from Sh30 million to Sh50 million.

It recommends an increase from Sh11 million to Sh85 million for construction of a Disaster Management and Response centre.

Speaker Bernard Wamalwa said members will debate on the report.
