President Uhuru Kenyatta has been told to kiss Rift Valley vote goodbye if Deputy President William Ruto’s ICC case is not terminated.

Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto yesterday made a surprise gesture to save the DP, saying Uhuru should not bank on the region anymore, if by next year Ruto’s case is still going on.

The governor said: “Uhuru should not come here to seek for our votes if Ruto and radio journalist Joshua Sang will not have been freed.”

Rutto was on the campaign trail at Olesoi to drum up support for the People’s Patriotic Party of Kenya candidate Andrew Maritim ahead of tomorrow’s Nyangores ward by-election.

“We are sending this early warning to Uhuru, that we shall no longer take it lightly as one community is sacrificed. We know those who fixed the two,” he said.

Rutto said Uhuru should “do what they did to have their [Uhuru’s] case terminated”, so that Ruto and Sang’ can be let off the hook.

“We know the likes of Moses Kuria who have been claiming to have fixed the two are indeed the ones who did that,” he said.

The governor also asked the President to order for the withdrawal of the Kenyan troops from Somalia.

Rutto said the nation continues to lose many young people in the war.

“Who are we to deploy our soldiers to Somalia when the European nations do not have theirs in that volatile nation?” he said.

Rutto also called for a free and fair election process during the Nyangores ward by-election.

He urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to be transparent to avoid any cases of rigging.

PPPK and Jubilee parties held its final campaign rallies yesterday in various parts of the ward before converging at Goitab, Silibwet and Kapkesosio for the main rallies.

Rutto led the PPPK’s campaigns where he was joined by Kanu bigwigs led by Gideon Moi and Jubilee rebels.
