Kisii MCAs warned not to skip sessions

Kisii MCAs have been warned to show up or lose their allowances based on attendance.

Speaker Kerosi Ondieki said adjournment due to lack of quorum will not be taken lightly.

He spoke on Tuesday afternoon during the opening of the county assembly fourth session

Ondieki said Governor James Ongwae would not deliver his speech as he was attending a state function in Nairobi but will do so later.

Senator Chris Obure, who was also to give a speech, did not attend and the speaker did not indicate whether he had received any communication.

Bokimonge MCA George Bibao rose on a point of order, saying that while they were on recess clashes occurred at the Kisii-Narok border between the Kisii and Maasai communities.

Ten people from Kisii were injured.

Bibao said he will table a report this afternoon.

MCA Philip Motomu of Riana said he will table a report on the same day on a raid by security officers at the home of Gerald Ontweka in his ward, in which an officer allegedly shot dead his colleague.
