Preparations for the homecoming ceremony of Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri are almost complete.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to attend, several sources told the Star.
The ceremony will be held at Nanyuki Stadium on Saturday.
Laikipia county secretary John Mwaniki, the chairman of the organising committee, yesterday spoke to the Star.
“Some expectations are that Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital will be elevated to a Level Five facility,” he said.
Deputy speaker Peter Kimondo (Nanyuki MCA) expressed optimism that issues of title deeds and water will top the list.
He said 1,200 people who were given plots in Likii village in 1973 by founding President Jomo Kenyatta will be given title deeds.
“Because his father gave us the plots, it would be good for the son to say a word over the title deeds and our souls shall be healed,” Kimondo said.
He added that Laikipia county is a semi-arid region in dire need of water for humans, livestock and farming.
